2020 Conference — Annual Urban and Community Forestry Conference

“Water Wise Community Forests: Strategies for our Future”

Oregon Community Trees and the Oregon Department of Forestry are pleased to announce a call for presentation proposals for its 2020 Oregon Urban & Community Forestry Conference, “Water Wise Community Forests: Strategies for Oregon’s Future”.

The conference will be Thursday, June 4th, 2020 at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon. The conference participants typically include arborists and other tree care professionals, city foresters, urban tree managers, landscape architects and contractors, tree nursery professionals, students, academics, natural resources managers, municipal governments, community forestry advocates, non-profits, and local forestry leaders from communities across Oregon and the PNW. from communities across Oregon.

CEUs from ISA, OLCB, & SAF are typically offered at this conference.

What to expect?

Research-based recommendations, ISA-Certified arborist perspectives, and Best Management Practice tips for community tree managers on how to think about — and plan for –stormwater, drought, and trees in an increasingly extreme climate. Presenters will cover the gamut from the pros and cons of beavers in an urban ecosystem, to how trees experience stress, to green infrastructure, to “climate forward” tree selection. Additionally, there will be a presentation by PlanIT Geo on Oregon’s new Tree Plotter Inventory software, available for free to all cities throughout the state.

In addition to the presentations, the conference hosts will again provide our conference “traditions” – a continental breakfast, buffet lunch, and after-conference networking gathering with a no-host bar, included in the price of registration.

For those arriving the day before the conference, Oregon Community Trees will be hosting a pre-conference Social on the Wednesday evening before the conference. You are welcome to bring your significant other to this event. Since the preconference social is a separate event from the conference, each guest attending the preconference social will need to purchase a separate ticket.

Early-bird registration is now open until April 30th, so get your tickets now! Conference and pre-conference social tickets are available.

Special discount for Tree City USA residents and students.
